Below are some options for Memorial Park that were discussed at previous meeting with you, the community. Nothing is fixed in concrete at this stage, they're just some ideas, put up here for your information. We're keen to hear more from you and/or your group.

Previously Discussed Options
Indoor Event/Equestrian Centre
Either replace or renovate existing A&P building to accommodate an indoor centre capable of holding events normally held outdoors. For example Equestrian events - A&P group events - stud stock shows - Rodeos - Rugby training - Sports training. Approximately 80- metres by 50 metres.
Shearing Complex
Upgrade and lighting to complex.
Mountain bike/walking track
Reinstate and open new tracks at rear of reserve at Taihape. Track to be used by Mountain bikes - walkers and possibly horses as well. Once established track to become part of nationally advertised walking track system - Mountain bike competitions.
Bowls Club
Minor upgrade to buildings. Lighting to allow night games. Lighting to be shared by nearby Netball and Tennis Centre. New artificial surface.
Lighting upgrade
Upgrade night lighting at Recreation grounds. Lights for night Rugby, Netball practice, Tennis, Bowls.
Squash Club
Upgrade Squash Club. Extra Court.
Utiku Clubrooms
Upgrade of Club Allows multi use for other park users especially during events.
Tennis/Netball
The court surface to be replaced. New lighting and fences. Cover whole area - part of area. ie either roof only or completely covered in.
Grandstand
Upgrade existing grandstand. Renovate under grandstand showers and toilets. Include offices, gym - Corporate Box
Pool
Renovate pool. New showers - hot water - changing facilities for disabled - disabled lifting device - upgrade changing area. Develop fitness centre BBQ - Entertainment area at rear
New points to Consider and Discuss. (What If !)
Shared Clubrooms
Build a second storey across the existing Club rooms of Squash - Netball - Tennis - Utiku Rugby and continue building out into existing car park Share new building with all sports clubs and other organisations, clubs and groups in Taihape. Building becomes new focal point for all local, smaller, social and sporting activities in Taihape
New Grandstand
Replace existing Grandstand with new Grandstand. Include new facilities -showers - gym - office space and Corporate boxes.
New Bowling Club - Tennis/Netball Area
Bowling Club and Croquet move to existing Tennis/Netball area and Tennis/Netball move to existing Bowling area. Bowling club to use proposed new shared club building.
New School
How can the new schools facilities be best used by the community. How can the facilities at the Rec be used by the new school. |
