From: Older & Bolder Taihape

The older & Bolder Group took a trip to Tasmania from 26th September to 9th October. This was a most successful trip and all 22 of us had a great time. We spent 3 nights in Melbourne on our way home, at least it was much warmer there!

Our leader Betty Tierney did a wonderful job in looking after us all. Thank you Betty!

Community Garden
This project was funded by Power Co Trust. "As the old saying goes". The proof is in the eating. We are calling for gardeners! The garden is open to the whole community, and has been worked by young and old. It not only provides food, but gets people together working side by side. These social benefits are an added bonus to our belief "that it takes a whole community to raise a child". Just a little thing to try in your spare time!

Get to know 5 young people that aren't familiy by name and greet them by that name!

Launch Taihape Website & Brochure

It was very encouraging to see so many people attending the launch of the Taihape website & brochure last Wednesday the 26th September!

Various businesses had provided a plate and the OTaihape Club hosted the event. When everyone had arraived, after a brief introduction explaining the Taihape brochure attendants were shown the website and its possibilities. Various questions were asked followed by the opportunity for everyone to catch up.

It was a successfull evening and I thank you all for attending!

Launch Taihape Website & Brochure

Congratulations to my friends in Taihape!

Just wanted to say congratulations on a really fine community website. John Booth and I worked on the original prototype of the early Taihape website, and it was my idea that you should have one. John, Meriam, Brian Megaw et al are good friends and clients of mine. I have spent about three weeks in Taihape since early 2005. Some of the finest people in the world live in Taihape, and I hope to see you all again soon. Cheers, Ron Castle.

Taihape Website

Welcome to the Taihape community website! You might already know someone that’s part of the Trust, heard about us or read some information in the newspaper (or not), but don’t let that stop you to let me know what you would like the Taihape Community Development Trust to do for you and your town!

I hope you have seen the Taihape brochure and Taihape now also has a website! The idea is that you as a community make use of it. On this page you can post messages and on the events page you can let everyone know when you, your club or organisation has planned an event. For example, when is Taihape rugby playing against … and when does the netball competition start? Of course, very important is Gumboot Day! Once we know when it will take place that will be included too!

The website also provides a photo gallery. If you have some photos that you feel others might enjoy as well submit the online form and your messages will be sent to me and I’ll make sure they’re uploaded as soon as possible.
